The Effects of using Pictures on EFL Learners’ Vocabulary Retention

Innovation is necessary for improvement. This inspirational saying triggered the author to try new things enhancement. study explored effect of using pictures instruct vocabulary in EFL classrooms. At same time, students’ attitudes toward this instruction were also examined. To have data study, a group 70 seventh-graders at Duyen Hai Ethnic Boarding Junior High School Tra Vinh province recruited as participants. The had two parts. first part dealt with intervention groups students. 35 students chosen experimental group, and other control group. was exposed while taught traditional teaching method (without pictures). Both undergone pretest, posttest, delayed tests. results showed that both groups’ scores on tests improved, but group’s higher than its counterparts. Then, result teach vocabulary. They positive attitude strategy. Finally, based some suggestions limitations proposed.
